SUMMARY:St Edward’s School Art Teachers: Circa 500
DESCRIPTION:St Edward’s School Art Teachers: Circa 500\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout St Edward’s School Art Teachers: Circa 500\n\n\n\nCirca 500 is composed of eleven artists who spend their days teaching\, questioning\, and building alongside the next generation of artists at St Edward’s School. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition turns that practice inward\, revealing the breadth of disciplines that animate their department: ceramics\, sculpture\, textiles\, painting\, print\, photography\, graphics\, and film. \n\n\n\nWhat connects them is not a single medium but a shared curiosity. Clay and thread\, paint and colour\, lens and screen\, ink and object each hold their own language. Together\, they create a conversation about process\, experiment\, and the shifting roles they inhabit as educators and artists. \n\n\n\nThe works on display emerge from the overlap of classroom and studio\, from the restless space between guiding others and pursuing individual investigations. They are presented not as finished answers but as open propositions\, fragments of dialogue\, and invitations to look closer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFree entry \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 11 to Friday 27 March 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nExhibition Opening: \n\n\n\nThursday 12 March 5.00pm to 7.00pm \n\n\n\nPlease join in for drinks to celebrate the opening of this exhibition \n\n\n\nFree event / no booking required \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The North Wall Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe North Wall Arts Centre is an an award-winning theatre\, gallery and performing arts centre located in Summertown\, North Oxford. SUMMARY:The Torpids 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Torpids\, Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Torpids\n\n\n\nThe Torpids is one of two bumping boat races in Oxford’s rowing calendar. The other is the Summer Eights. \n\n\n\nOxford‘s Torpids take place annually about the 7th week of Hilary Term (around the start of March) on four successive days from Wednesday to Saturday. \n\n\n\nThe racing takes place on The Isis\, a length of the River Thames in Oxford\, which is generally too narrow for side-by-side racing\, so the races follow the ‘Bumps’ format\, a form of rowing race in which several boats chase each other in single file\, where the aim to catch and ‘bump’ the boat ahead to climb the rankings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor each division\, twelve boats line up at the downstream end of the stretch (near Donnington Bridge)\, each cox holding onto a rope attached to the bank\, leaving around 1.5 lengths between each. The start of racing is signalled by the firing of a cannon. There are three gun signals – a five-minute gun\, a one-minute gun and the starting gun. \n\n\n\nOnce a bump has occurred\, both crews involved in the bump stop racing and move to the side to allow the rest of the division to pass. The ultimate aim of a crew is to become ‘Head of the River’ (top of the first division) and stay there. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt is possible to ‘over bump’ if the 2 crews in front of your boat bump (and so drop out)\, and your boat can catch the one in front of them. They then swap places for the next race on the next calendar day or the first day of racing in the following year’s competition. \n\n\n\nAs always\, expect the banks of the Isis to be packed full of spectators watching as the oars slice through the serene waters of the Isis. \n\n\n\nOxford University Rowing Clubs is the body within the University of Oxford that has authority over the conduct of all college crews and is responsible for organising inter-collegiate contests. \n\n\n\nIt is a confederation of the college boat clubs and the University squads Oxford University Boat Club (OUBC)\, Oxford University Women’s Boat Club (OUWBC)\, The Oxford University Lightweight Rowing Club (OULRC)\, and the Oxford University Women’s Lightweight Rowing Club (OUWLRC).

SUMMARY:Didcot Concert Orchestra - March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Didcot Concert Orchestra\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Cello Sings\n\n\n\nThe main work in this very tuneful concert is Dvořák’s ever-popular Cello Concerto\, with talented cellist Joshua Lynch. \n\n\n\nDating from the composer’s American period\, it portrays both unrequited love and at the same time the homesick longing that Dvořák felt for his own country. \n\n\n\nThe rarely-played effervescent Polonaise by Lyadov is also included in the programme\, along with the American Suite which Dvořák composed immediately after his New World Symphony. \n\n\n\nThe Overture di Ballo predates Sullivan’s operetta works with WS Gilbert\, and is – justifiably – his most-recorded orchestral work. \n\n\n\nTunes aplenty are guaranteed! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTicketing information\n\n\n\nStandard prices – £18.00Concessions – £14.00Under 16s – £9.00 \n\n\n\nMaximum 10 tickets for this event per order. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Cornerstone Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCornerstone Arts Centre is a purpose-built\, professional arts\, culture and entertainment venue in the heart of Didcot\, brought to you by the South Oxfordshire District Council. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2008\, it presents a high-quality programme of live performances\, participatory activities\, exhibitions and outreach work that meet the needs and enhance the experiences of the local community and beyond. \n\n\n\nThe RIBA award-nominated building comprises a 220-seat auditorium\, an art gallery\, a dance studio\, and spaces for workshops and community activities. SUMMARY:Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Royal Philharmonic Orchestra\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Royal Philharmonic Orchestra\n\n\n\nSunday 01 March 2026 Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra \n\n\n\nKevin John Edusei Conductor \n\n\n\nSterling Elliot Cello \n\n\n\nDvořák Carnival Overture \n\n\n\nElgar Cello Concerto \n\n\n\nBeethoven Symphony No.7 \n\n\n\nThe Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) returns to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre with star cellist SterlingElliot for an emotionally epic programme of Dvořák\, Elgar and Beethoven. \n\n\n\n‘I am the new Bacchus\, pressing out glorious wine for the human spirit’: Ludwig van Beethoven never pulled his punches\, but until you’ve heard his Seventh Symphony in full flight\, you’ve never known just how intoxicating music can be. That’s just the climax to a whole concert that highlights some of these composers’ most well-known works. \n\n\n\nVirtuoso cellist Sterling Elliot leads the Orchestra through the wistfulness of Elgar’s Cello Concerto with his ‘impeccable musicianship’. Evoking a sense of introspection\, the work’s sombre mood reflects on the closing months of World War I\, contrasting sorrowful melodies with moments of hope and resilience. \n\n\n\nConductor Kevin John Edusei launches the evening with Dvořák’s joyous Carnival Overture\, the second work in his Nature\, Life and Love trilogy; a celebration of the composer’s love for his native land and its majestic landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Sterling Elliott’s interpretation….was revelatory. His approach to the slow movement was especially moving\, finding new emotional depths without sacrificing technical precision\, (showcasing) both his impressive control and his ability to infuse classical standards with contemporary relevance.” \n\n\n\nCongress Theatre\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £25.50 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 01 March 2026 at 3.00pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain Auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
