A characterful 17th-century Cotswold pub in the village of Lower Oddington, The Fox combines the warmth of a traditional country inn with a more contemporary approach to food, drink and design.

Built from local stone and a pub since 1856, the Fox retains plenty of its original character, from mullioned windows to an ironstone barrel-vaulted cellar. Inside, comfortable corners, an inviting oak bar and a lively dining room make it equally suited to a quiet drink, a long lunch or an evening with friends.

There is also a walled garden for warmer days, while six individually designed bedrooms and the four-bedroom Coachman’s House make it possible to turn a visit into a longer Cotswold stay.

Eat

The kitchen takes a modern country-pub approach, with a changing menu built around seasonal produce from Daylesford Farm and British growers and producers. Expect reworked pub classics alongside seasonal dishes, with wood-fired sourdough pizzas providing a more relaxed option.

The menu might range from Hereford beef and Daylesford chicken to market-garden vegetables, while Sunday lunch brings a choice of traditional roasts with seasonal accompaniments.
