About No Peace on St Jude
University of Oxford Student Season: Trinity Term 2026
By Gabriel Meadowcroft
People have come from all over to start their lives again on the Isle of St Jude – a namesake that means hope.
When an American doctor comes to take a break from his stressful job to stay with a cousin, he says he will only stay a while. But the longer he stays the more he finds himself wrapped up amid the tales of the locals – an ex-policeman, a drunkard, a mother and her son…
Have pasts really been left behind, or are the people of St Jude still running?
