The Feathers in Woodstock launches summer menu at The Aviary ahead of alfresco season

With the UK heatwave arriving just as summer plans begin to ramp up, The Feathers Hotel is positioning itself as a destination for relaxed dining and long afternoons in the sun, with the launch of a new spring/summer menu at its terrace bar, The Aviary.

Awarded a Michelin Key in 2025 and part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the boutique hotel has introduced a seasonal menu designed for laid-back lunches, sunset drinks and sociable evenings, complemented by live music sessions on selected dates throughout the summer.

Set against the backdrop of one of Woodstock’s most atmospheric outdoor spaces, The Aviary’s new offering leans into classic seasonal produce and lighter warm-weather dishes, alongside more indulgent mains for leisurely dining.

Highlights from the menu include Loch Duart salmon with cucumber, buttermilk and dill, and a brown crab risotto with pickled fennel and lime. Guests looking for something heartier can opt for the 10oz sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and fries, or a beef burger topped with Gruyère, jalapeños and burger sauce.

The menu also features a selection of seasonal salads and lighter plates, including Isle of Wight tomatoes with mozzarella and basil, roasted beetroot with feta and walnut, and a Caesar salad with the option to add chicken.

Starters include crispy pork terrine with celeriac remoulade and Granny Smith apple, alongside roasted red pepper soup served with crème fraîche and seeded loaf. Guests can also begin with freshly baked Cotswold crunch and seeded loaf served with whipped salted butter.

Side dishes range from fries and confit new potatoes with mint to creamed leeks with toasted almond and sorrel, plus a young leaf and herb salad finished with roasted tomato balsamic dressing.

Desserts continue the seasonal theme, with options including chocolate mousse with coconut sorbet, lemon tart with raspberry and Dorset yoghurt, Pitchfork cheddar with fig and walnut cake, and popcorn ice cream with candied orange.

The new menu positions The Aviary as a standout addition to Oxfordshire’s summer dining scene, offering a refined yet relaxed setting for visitors looking to make the most of the warmer months in the Cotswolds.
