Westbound

About Westbound
Presented by Splinters Productions
Written and Directed by Sasha Ranawake
“Why do you care about history? They are all dead anyway. ”
Westbound asks what happens when we are uprooted and repotted.
Following three generations of women as they grapple with what it means to belong in England, the play explores their increasingly tangled relationships as they find themselves doomed to repeat the histories they are determined to evade.
Haunted by their hasty departure from Hong Kong and the lives they have left behind, the boundaries between past and present quickly dissolve. Soon enough, the family’s fragile home begins to reverberate with the ghosts of the past.
University of Oxford student theatre company Splinters Productions presents their third original play, a moving exploration of displacement, memory and reconciliation, written and directed by Sasha Ranawake.
