About Headington Action
Headington Action is a charity (charity number 1170517) whose remit is to benefit those who live, work and study in Headington. They do this by working with the inhabitants, together with voluntary, commercial and other organisations and local authorities to promote the area, increase civic pride, undertake community projects and environmental improvements. Their members consist of representatives of any organisation or group within Headington, plus local councillors and the Local Authorities. In addition, they co-opt individuals who have specific interests and skills.
Headington Action:
- Runs the Headington Market
- Organises the Headington Festival
- Organises hanging baskets for Headington
- Works with Headington businesses to organize Christmas lights
- Provides grants under the Small Sparks Scheme as well as Community Grants. Click on the links for further details
- Looks after the Central Headington community notice boards
- Supports street parties
- Liaises regularly with the City Council with ideas for improving the area and responds to consultations
- Instigates and manages community projects
- Works with Headington Neighbourhood Forum on the Headington Neighbourhood Plan
- Instigated the Headington Neighbourhood Plan
- Provides a forum for local groups such as residents’ associations to share ideas and concerns
