The JdP Music Building (Jacqueline du Pré Music Building) is a beautiful, modern, and intimate music venue specifically built for chamber music performance and dedicated to the memory of the extraordinary cellist Jacqueline du Pré. The JdP is a part of St Hilda’s College, Oxford and is located within its beautiful grounds on the banks of the River Cherwell. St Hilda’s College is committed to sustaining and developing the JdP Music Building as a centre for the learning, teaching, performance, and experience of music at all levels, at all ages, and for people from all backgrounds.
The JdP Music Building promotes its own professional concerts, welcoming world-class performers such as Steven Isserlis (JdP Patron), Joanna MacGregor, and Nick van Bloss.
The research centre for experimental music at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, presents concerts of contemporary classical music, experimental music, and electro-acoustic music as well as various interdisciplinary projects.
Free concerts given by the next generation of performers, every Thursday during term at 1.15pm.
The JdP hosts many events organised by Dance Scholarship Oxford, which provides a major forum for dance scholarship in Europe and promotes dialogue between prominent academic disciplines and the worlds of dance theory and practice.
The JdP Music Building presents monthly Cushion Concerts for children and their parents as well as an annual Christmas Pantomime for families, and other events such as the Sir Robert Mayer Children’s Concert sponsored by Robert Mayer Trust. We also run regular schools concerts, Moving Music concerts for people with dementia, and other events such as the Family Prom supported by the Patsy Wood Trust,
The JdP is open to the public and available to hire for concerts, plays, art exhibitions, corporate functions, and other events.

Walking
Coming from Oxford High Street walk over Magdalen Bridge, and at the Cowley Plain roundabout turn right onto Cowley Place. You will pass Magdalen College School, and St Hilda’s College is at the end of the road on the right. Once inside the grounds, turn left and follow the signs to the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building. Approx. 15 mins from Oxford High Street.
By Bus
Bus numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 400, 280, U1 and U5 all stop at Cowley Plain with stops located on St Clements, Cowley Road and Iffley Road. The JdP Music Building is no more than a 5 minute walk from any of these stops – walk to the roundabout and turn down Cowley Place and you will find the College at the end of the road on the right.
By Train
From Oxford train station take bus 5 to the Cowley Plain stop and from there it is a 5 minute walk to the JdP Music Building: walk to the roundabout and turn down Cowley Place and you will find the College at the end of the road on the right.
By Car
Pay and display parking may be available in St Clements public car park, and there are a limited number of spaces sometimes available in Magdalen College School car park directly opposite the main entrance to St Hilda’ss. Disabled parking is available – please call to reserve a space.
