About Rave On For The Avon with Director Q&A (12A)
Directed by Charlotte Sawyer
One-off screening featuring a panel discussion and Q&A with director Charlotte Sawyer and ‘Big Oil’ whistleblower Caroline Dennett.
‘Rave On For The Avon’ is a compelling documentary that delves into the heart of the River Avon community, highlighting the passionate efforts of local swimmers, scientists, and even a mermaid as they unite to protect and preserve their cherished river.
The film underscores themes of environmental activism, community resilience, and the profound connection between people and their natural surroundings.
England is one of only two countries in the world with a fully privatised water and sewage system. With just 14% of its rivers in good ecological health, the effort to keep them clean is falling short.
In this inspiring documentary, director Charlotte Sawyer follows a community of wild swimmers in Bristol as they grapple with the impact of raw sewage pollution in the River Avon. Determined to reclaim their waters, they take on water companies and local authorities in a fight for cleaner, healthier rivers.
