About Building your own Community History project

This is the final event in a six-part series taking place this autumn, hosted by Oxford University’s Community History Hub. The events will showcase a range of innovative local historical projects run by, or in partnership with, community historians.

Attendees will learn about the latest new research being conducted on Oxfordshire’s diverse histories, as well as gain new skills that could help shape personal project ideas.

On 28 November, a networking event will provide participants with the opportunity to access support and resources to help them build and plan their own community history projects. Local colleagues and partners will be present, running stalls and showcasing the assistance they can offer in the design, execution, and evaluation of research projects.

Representatives from the Oxfordshire Local History Association, the Oxfordshire History Centre, the Victoria County History Project, and Oxford University’s Impact, Evaluation, and Public/Community Engagement with Research teams will be in attendance.

Attendees will be able to connect with these organisations, seek advice on accessing local archives, find potential collaborators, and learn how to assess the impact of their work — and much more.

The event is free and everyone is welcome, but please note that the number of spaces available is limited, so please book in advance. If you have any questions about the event, you are welcome to contact Dr Priya Atwal (Community History Fellow) via email at priya.atwal@history.ox.ac.uk.
