Cotswold-based coach operator Pulhams Coaches has unveiled a £1.5 million investment in five new executive coaches, strengthening its fleet and expanding its tour, day trip, and private hire services.

The investment, made by Pulhams’ parent company Go-Ahead Group, marks the latest phase of the operator’s ongoing growth strategy and commitment to improving passenger comfort and service quality.

All five new Irizar i6S coaches will be based at Pulhams’ Bourton-on-the-Water depot in Gloucestershire, bringing the total fleet size to 155 vehicles.

Each coach is equipped with air conditioning, reclining seats, USB charging points, DVD players, hot water boilers, and onboard toilets. Seating capacities range from 53 to 57, and all vehicles are fully PSVAR-compliant, allowing wheelchair users to board via an integrated lift.

The first two coaches entered service on October 30, with the remaining three due to arrive in the coming weeks.

Luke Marion, Managing Director of Pulhams Coaches, said:

“This latest significant investment in our fleet reflects our strong business performance and busy forward order book. We are committed to providing an exceptional service to our customers and ensuring coach travel is as attractive as possible. Having high-quality vehicles helps enhance the customer experience we deliver.”

To support its continued expansion, Pulhams has also launched a recruitment campaign for both experienced and trainee coach drivers. The company offers competitive pay, a range of benefits, and ongoing training opportunities.

Mr Marion added:

“With investment comes the opportunity to build and expand on our services, which is why we’re actively recruiting for new drivers. Bus and coach driving makes for an excellent career, and we’re keen to hear from applicants who have a passion for customer service.”

Founded in 1880 by the Pulham family, the company began transporting passengers and goods by horse and cart. Acquired by the Go-Ahead Group—the parent company of Oxford Bus Group—in 2023, Pulhams continues to modernise with a new website and app, a second depot in Cheltenham, and upgraded ticket machines across its local bus services.

Pulhams remains deeply rooted in its community, partnering with Guide Dogs UK to offer free travel to volunteer puppy raisers and launching the Chatty Bus initiative to combat loneliness and encourage connection among passengers.
