Vistry Group has strengthened its support for the Oxfordshire community with donations to two organisations working with children and young people close to its Beckley Place development at Barton Park.

A £500 contribution has been made to Be Free Young Carers, helping the charity continue its work with children and young people who care for family members across the county.

The funding will support respite activities, one-to-one emotional guidance and practical advice, offering young carers opportunities to build friendships and access trusted support.

Vistry has also donated £500 to Kingfisher School, a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school in Abingdon.

The school provides inclusive education for pupils with complex learning needs. The donation will go towards a specialist wheelchair swing, enabling children with mobility needs to enjoy outdoor play and sensory experiences.

Trevor Wicks, Managing Director at Vistry Thames Valley, said:

“Supporting organisations that make a real difference in communities where we are building is incredibly important to us. Both Kingfisher School and Be Free Young Carers deliver essential support to local families, and we’re proud to help them continue their fantastic work here in Oxford.”

Sabiene North, CEO of Be Free Young Carers, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to Vistry for their generous £500 donation. This contribution will make a real difference to the lives of young carers in our community, helping us provide respite activities, emotional support and opportunities for them to simply enjoy being children. Partnerships like this show young carers that they are seen, valued and supported. Thank you, Vistry, for standing alongside us.”

Barton Park is a major Oxfordshire development delivering 885 homes across four phases. Vistry is responsible for Phases 2 and 4, known as Beckley Place, which includes a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and two to five-bedroom houses off Barton Fields Road.

Vistry operates across 25 regions in the UK, partnering with Registered Providers, Local Authorities, Homes England and Private Rented Sector providers. Through its timber manufacturing arm, Vistry Works, the company aims to deliver sustainable homes and long-term community value.
