Charities across Oxfordshire continue to enjoy strong public support, according to new research that suggests residents recognise the important role voluntary organisations play in local communities despite ongoing economic uncertainty.
Analysis of figures from the Charities Aid Foundation’s (CAF) UK Local Giving Report 2026 found that 58% of people in Oxfordshire believe charities have made a positive impact in their local area.
The research also suggests charitable giving remains strong across the county. Around 61% of Oxfordshire residents said they had made a charitable donation during the past 12 months, while 41% reported taking part in community-focused activities, including volunteering, helping neighbours or supporting local initiatives.
The findings reflect continued public engagement with the county’s extensive network of charities and community organisations, many of which continue to provide essential support in areas including health, social care, education, the environment, culture and homelessness.
David Eccles, Head of Distribution at Ansvar Insurance, which analysed the data, said the results demonstrate the continued value local communities place on charitable organisations.
“The findings show that charities continue to enjoy strong public recognition across Oxfordshire, which is a real testament to the work being done by local organisations, often with limited resources and stretched teams.
“Charities have worked incredibly hard in recent years to keep delivering vital services, all while managing rising costs themselves. The fact that public recognition of their impact remains so strong shows just how much value people place on this work.”
The insurer believes charities now have an opportunity to build on this public goodwill by communicating the impact of their work more effectively, making it easier for people to donate or volunteer, strengthening partnerships with businesses and community groups, and ensuring organisations are well prepared for the risks associated with modern fundraising activities.
While the research highlights encouraging levels of public confidence, many charities continue to face rising operational costs and increasing demand for services. Across Oxfordshire, voluntary organisations remain an important part of community life, supporting thousands of people each year through projects delivered by staff and volunteers.
The latest findings suggest that, despite financial pressures affecting both organisations and households, many residents remain willing to support charities through donations, volunteering and wider community involvement.
