Frilford Heath Golf Club is strengthening its support for Homeless Oxfordshire after members raised more than £30,000 for the charity, with funds helping to rebuild lives across the county.

The golf club near Abingdon-on-Thames will also host Homeless Oxfordshire’s annual golf day on June 26, giving local businesses and organisations the chance to enjoy one of England’s best-known golfing venues while contributing to support services for people facing homelessness.

The fundraising partnership has already provided significant financial backing for Homeless Oxfordshire, the county’s largest provider of supported accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.

As part of the collaboration, Frilford Heath Golf Club Managing Director Russell Stebbings visited Homeless Oxfordshire’s O’Hanlon House, a 51-bed emergency accommodation hostel in Oxford city centre, to see how the organisation supports people affected by trauma, hardship and disadvantage.

Russell Stebbings said:

“Homeless Oxfordshire makes an extraordinary contribution to our community and members of Frilford Heath Golf Club are both grateful and proud to support this important work.

“It’s been fascinating to learn how some members of the expert support team here have themselves experienced homelessness and how they are now channeling that experience to help others.”

Homeless Oxfordshire provides supported housing, specialist care and tailored assistance through a network of accommodation services across the county. Alongside emergency shelter and food, the charity focuses on tackling the deeper causes of homelessness through long-term support.

Tim Wraith, Partnerships Fundraising Manager at Homeless Oxfordshire, said the club’s initiative demonstrated strong local commitment. He said:

“My work involves reaching out to local businesses to talk about our work and hopefully gain support. With Frilford Heath, they actually reached out to us – which is a testament to their real commitment to supporting people in their local community.

“We were so grateful to be chosen by the Club Captains as their charity of the year in 2025, and we’re thrilled to be hosting our annual Golf Day at the Club in June. It’s a spectacular course and we know it will be an amazing day out for our supporters.”

Businesses and organisations interested in taking part in the golf day can contact Homeless Oxfordshire for entry details.

Frilford Heath Golf Club is a family-friendly club near Abingdon with three courses, two of which are ranked among England’s Top 200 Courses.
