Ethical Property has appointed Jonathan Davies as its new chief executive, placing a long-serving member of its senior leadership team at the helm of the Oxford-headquartered social enterprise.
Davies joined Ethical Property in 2016 as operations director and became deputy managing director in 2019. He has overseen regional and central operations, including human resources and IT, while also leading on areas including social impact and equality and diversity.
The appointment follows a recruitment process launched earlier this year as Ethical Property prepared for what it described as a new chapter for the organisation. The company said it was looking for a commercially minded leader to help shape its future and respond to changing requirements for purpose-led workspaces.
Ethical Property provides office, meeting and shared workspace for charities, social enterprises, not-for-profit organisations and other purpose-led businesses. It operates centres across the UK, including The Old Music Hall on Cowley Road, which serves as its Oxford base.
The company says it supports more than 1,000 charities, not-for-profit organisations and voluntary groups each year and operates a network of centres across the UK. Its Oxford head office is home to around 25 employees.
Davies said he had seen first-hand the difference the organisation makes during his ten years with the company and would work with colleagues, tenants, shareholders and partners to build on its existing work.
He described Ethical Property as having a strong foundation, an established team and a clear social purpose, while pointing to opportunities to develop its impact further.
Mark Hannam, chair of Ethical Property, said Davies’ knowledge of the organisation, its values and the communities it serves would be valuable as he takes on the role.
The appointment comes after the departure of former managing director Conrad Peberdy, who announced in 2025 that he would step down after more than 16 years with the organisation. Davies was subsequently appointed interim managing director.
Ethical Property’s latest annual and impact report, published in August 2026, highlighted its work with tenants, communities and colleagues, alongside its financial, social and environmental performance.
The organisation has said its next phase will include reviewing its property portfolio, modernising its operations and developing new partnerships with organisations aligned with its social and environmental objectives.
