A Christmas Carol Continues

About A Christmas Carol Continues
This Christmas, Old Fire Station, Oxford, is proud to premiere a new play by Tony and Olivier Award nominated playwright and comedian, Jonny Donahoe: a witty and timely sequel to Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol.
Seven years after the fateful night that made Ebenezer Scrooge a good man, he is both a pillar of the community and, of course, a busy and profitable slumlord. Despite his well-wishes to all who meet him on the street, the poor of London are yet to see any benefit.
On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is troubled by another visit from the ghosts, who try to show him he still has much to learn about his impact on the world. But as the spirits attempt to convince him to go further in his re-imagining of justice and kindness, it becomes clear nothing is as it seems …
Continuing The Old Fire Station’s tradition of serious but funny Christmas shows for grown-ups, Jonny Donahoe returns, exactly ten years after writing the first OFS show (Thirty Christmases) in 2016.
Written in collaboration with multi-award-winning screenwriter Conor O’Toole, A Christmas Carol Continues is a loving but audacious updating of Dickens’ classic, that dreams up what the great writer might have written next had he lived to meet Karl Marx, Emeline Pankhurst or Nelson Mandela.
And in a world where a trillionaire can emerge whilst poverty and homelessness is on the rise, this re-imagining of Dickens is as relevant now as it was in its 1850 setting.
