Join critically acclaimed and T S Eliot-prize-winning poet Roger Robinson for reading and discussion of his work with Dr Malachi McIntosh. Roger will be sharing his thoughts about writerly craft, novel poetic forms, the various challenges of representation, and the idea of aesthetic grace.
Roger Robinson is a distinguished poet known for his powerful and evocative verse that delves into themes of identity, memory, history, and social justice.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago and based in the UK, Roger’s work often explores the complexities of the Caribbean diaspora experience and the intersections of race, culture, and belonging.
His poetry is marked by its lyrical potency, keen observations, and deep empathy, earning him widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including the prestigious T.S. Eliot Prize for Poetry in 2019 for his collection “A Portable Paradise.”
Roger’s writing resonates with readers globally, offering profound insights into the human condition and the enduring resilience of the human spirit.
He has been chosen by Decibel & Arts Council England as one of the top 50 writers who have influenced Black British writing, and his work has been featured in prominent collections.
