IF Oxford Science + Ideas Festival

About IF Oxford 2023

IF Oxford returns in 2023 with events from 06 to 29 October 2023. Visit 31 venues in Oxford for in-person science and ideas events or connect to the online events from anywhere.

There’s something for everyone, with activities for young children and families and sessions for teenagers and adults to enjoy alone or as a group in venues across Oxford. It is very much a festival with a wide public appeal.

IF Oxford or Oxford science and ideas Festival is a thought-provoking and interactive science and ideas festival that creates an opportunity to bring together hundreds of researchers with thousands of people every year – with science, ideas and creative activities for everyone to explore.

IF Oxford 2023 brings together a brilliant programme of events, including:

  • Brilli-ANT: A new immersive exhibition at The Story Museum that takes you inside the world of an anthill. Discover how small changes can make a big difference in helping to save the planet.
  • Explorazone: See some of the most exciting science and meet the best and friendliest inventors in real life for free at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church.
  • Rhymetime – Combining enjoyment of books, music and rhymes into sessions featuring songs and rhymes for under 5s at the Children’s section of the Oxfordshire County Library.
  • Storytime: Hear stories from around the world in the Children’s Library at Oxfordshire County Library. Suitable for under 7s accompanied by an adult.
  • Glow Your Own – Get ready for the Oxford Light Festival by creating your very own moving lantern in this weekly workshop series that will help you build your own creative circuit.
  • Origami Club: Learn how to fold paper through the ancient art and simple pleasure of origami. Make birds, fish, dragons, stars, and flowers and use your skills for endless creativity.

IF Oxford is a powerful way to bring people together – inspiring curious minds of all ages and backgrounds to access and help shape new ideas. It is organised by Oxfordshire Science Festival, with trustees and a small team that work year-round to produce the Festival, which began in 1992.
