About The State of the Union
In the run up to the May 2026 elections to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd, and English councils, this distinguished panel will discuss what the campaigns in the three nations tell us about what is at stake, possible outcomes, and the unity — or otherwise — of the United Kingdom.
The panel brings together the leading academic election analysts for the BBC and ITN (Professors John Curtice and JaneGreen), the award-winning Financial Times journalist (StephenBush), and the Plaid Cymru MP — and Trinity alumnus — Ben Lake.
The panel will be chaired by Trinity’s Fellow and Tutor in Politics, Professor StephenFisher.
