Pride Month began on 01 June, and Oxford’s annual Pride parade happened on 04 June 2022. June hosts Pride Month in many parts of the world, as it commemorates the date of the Stonewall riots in 1969.

The Oxford Pride parade usually attracts huge crowds, and this year was no different, and despite the rain at the start of the parade – showing the world that Oxford is a beacon of inclusiveness, acceptance, diversity and perseverance.

Pride 2022 was also extra special in Oxford, as an in-person event had not been held for the past two summers due to the coronavirus pandemic. A virtual Pride took place on Saturday, 05 June 2021.

Hundreds of people took part in the parade as it travelled from Radcliffe Camera to Oxford Castle & Prison, where the festivities continued with live entertainment as well as street food traders and community stalls.

Many more dug out their most colourful outfits to celebrate the diversity of the LGBT+ community – with people of all genders, sexualities, races, and ages taking part in various activities across the city, including live performances at Westgate Shopping Centre.

Editors note: We’re still working our way through the thousands of pictures we took at the event, and we’ll continue to update this post over the coming days.
