About Abbey Sailing Club, Abingdon
Abbey is a small, family-friendly sailing club with a great social side and an informal and friendly atmosphere, why not pop along for a chat.
We run handicap races on Sundays and Wednesday evenings. The clubhouse is also open on other social occasions during the year, other people will potter about on the water, or carry out maintenance tasks at any time and catch up with friends. We have good facilities; including a clubhouse & bar, changing facilities with showers and a large & secure dinghy park.
We welcome new members whether you have previous sailing experience or not. We have a good, family-friendly social calendar and children are welcome at most events, if accompanied by a parent or guardian. There’s usually time after the Sunday races to do your own thing, we have summer parties, sailing trips to Poole and the coast, our annual regatta and of course the end of season party to name just a few.
We have plenty of car parking and you can use the clubhouse and facilities. You can even come along and just enjoy a picnic on the bank, watching the boats go by. You are very welcome to pop by and watch the sailing or chat with existing club members.
If you’re an experienced dinghy sailor but have no boat at present you are welcome to use the club boats small charge to use for racing, once you have joined with either a temporary or annual membership. Temporary membership, for visiting sailors is available.
If you’re new to sailing then why not come along and try it for a day and we’ll endeavour to get you out on the water and having a go. Bring along the rest of the family who can watch from the clubhouse or have a go themselves, there’s always something going on to occupy those not sailing.
