The Oxford Gun Company is an award-winning family-run shooting ground that provides everything a shot could need. From first-timers to the more experienced clay or game shot, they pride themselves on giving each and every shooter a tailored and personalised experience.
Their picturesque shooting ground is laid out on the banks of a meandering brook in the quintessentially English countryside, and the all-weather stands have been carefully designed to encourage the beginner or provide a serious challenge for the experienced shot.
The instructors have over 145 years’ experience between them and in 2016, founders Doug and Shirley Florent are celebrated 40 years in the gun trade. The passionate, highly qualified and committed team give patient and constructive tuition which will help improve and maintain form for shots of every level. They are devoted to introducing new people to the sport and providing a supportive and stimulating learning environment.
Their regular open shoots, renowned day courses and have-a-go days are welcoming to all – from beginners to accomplished shots and game shooters improving skills out of the season. They also have close links with local game shoots for those wanting to take the next step.
The shooting ground itself has been laid out on the banks of a brook, which meanders through the middle of the farm. Many of the shooting stands are reached by crossing rustic bridges which span the brook. The all-weather stands have been carefully designed to encourage the beginner or to provide a serious challenge to the experienced shot, with the bonus of 25-metre banks which offer a wide selection of teaching and testing targets allowing targets to be more varied and courses to be altered monthly.
Thre award-winning shooting school provides everything that shots of any level and experience could need. The first course has been designed for the shooting school to teach and help improve those shooters needing confidence. The second course has been carefully planned to give the competitive shooter more challenging targets and offer practice for registered shoots.
