The acclaimed children’s audiobook and music album The Land of Sometimes is to be re-released on 20 March 2026 following its adaptation into a major animated motion picture.

Originally released on CD in 2012, the project will return in its original format through One Fifteen Records, while an audiobook edition will also become available on Audible.

Created by Francesca Longrigg, the production combines storytelling, music and illustration in a format designed for family listening. It follows twins Alfie and Elise as they journey through a magical world where four seasons pass within a single day, meeting characters including River Slouch Sling, Little Twink and Mrs Blip.

The original release was praised by British publications including The Times, which described it as “set to become a family favourite”.

The story has now been adapted into an animated feature film featuring voices from Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter, Alisha Weir, Asa Butterfield, Mel Brooks and Terry Jones.

From 20 March, Kaleidoscope Entertainment will release the film in UK cinemas.

The project’s songs span a wide range of styles, including Irish folk, New Orleans jazz, reggae and disco, with narration provided by Nicholas Jones.

Music for the original album was co-produced by Chicky Reeves, whose previous collaborations include artists such as Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Radiohead.

Illustrations for the project were created by Howard McWilliam, known for his cover artwork for The Week.

The animated film is based on the original audiobook and comes from producers associated with Saving Santa, Toy Story and How to Train Your Dragon.
