
Lionel Richie has cancelled his 2022 ‘Hello’ summer tour dates, including his scheduled headline appearance at Nocturne Live at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 19 June.
The singer/songwriter made the following statement on Twitter: “As Covid and its variants continue to impact the world, I have decided to hold off on my European tour this summer.
“The most important thing to me is the health of my fans, band and crew. I hope you all understand, and I hope to see you very soon when we can all gather safely.”
Lionel Richie was first scheduled to headline at Nocturne in 2020 as part of the music festival that transforms the Great Court at Blenheim Palace into a grand arena with world-class acts and 7,000 seats.
The news that Lionel Richie has cancelled his 2022 European tour, including his sold-out appearance at Nocturne Live at Blenheim Palace, has come as a shock to many firms who have been waiting to see him for three years.
The world-famous music festival at Blenheim Palace was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, and then again in 2021.
The other Nocturne Live shows have not been affected by this announcement. The shows, which feature Simply Red, David Gray, and UB40 (feat Ali Campbell), will proceed will proceed as planned between Wednesday 15 and Saturday 18 June.
Ticket holders to the Lionel Richie show have been offered a discount to the other Nocturne shows (subject to availability) or a full refund.
