Italy may have missed out on qualification for the 2026 World Cup, but restaurant chain Zizzi is making sure Italian nationals across the UK still have something to celebrate.
The Italian-inspired restaurant brand has launched its playful new campaign, ‘Forza Italia, Forza Zizzi’, offering a free main course to Italian nationals dining at participating restaurants between 08 and 18 June.
To redeem the offer, guests simply need to present a valid Italian passport and purchase a full-price drink. The promotion is available at participating restaurants across the UK, with one complimentary main course available per eligible guest and a maximum of six free mains per table or bill.
The campaign comes as Italy misses out on the World Cup for the third consecutive tournament. While the Azzurri will not be competing on football’s biggest stage this summer, Zizzi says it wants to celebrate the nation that has given the world some of its most beloved culinary traditions.
With more than 340,000 Italians living in the UK, the restaurant chain is inviting them to enjoy a meal on the house, whether they are cheering on another nation or choosing to avoid the football altogether.
Corrine Prior, Brand & Customer Experience Director at Zizzi, said: “Italy has already given the world the things people crave during tournament season, pasta, pizza and gathering around a table with friends and family. While the Azzurri may not be competing this summer, we wanted to give Italians across the UK a reason to celebrate.”
30% off food for non-Italians
Those without an Italian passport can still get involved in the World Cup celebrations.
Zizzi is offering 30% off food, including starters, sharers, mains and desserts, until the end of the tournament’s group stages on 26 June. The discount applies across participating restaurants, giving diners the chance to enjoy the restaurant’s menu at a reduced price throughout the opening weeks of the competition.
The offer reflects Zizzi’s tongue-in-cheek approach to celebrating Italian culture during a tournament where the national team will be absent, positioning its restaurants as an unofficial home-from-home for Italians living in Britain.
Founded more than 26 years ago, Zizzi now operates 133 restaurants across the UK, serving a menu centred around pizzas, pasta dishes, sharing plates and desserts.
