1. Introduction

The Oxford Magazine and its affiliates (collectively, “The Oxford Magazine”, “us” or “we”) encourages readers, contributors, and partners to actively participate in our platform by submitting content such as reviews, posts, comments, photos, and even full articles or blog entries. This user-generated content (UGC) helps create a dynamic, interactive and inclusive digital experience for everyone.

However, with this opportunity comes the responsibility to respect the intellectual property rights of others. This policy explains how we handle concerns about copyright or trademark infringement in any content that appears on our site—whether submitted by users, third-party partners, or our editorial team. It also outlines how to report potentially infringing content and how to respond if your content is affected by such a report.

For an explanation of The Oxford Magazine practices and policies relating to the collection, use, storage and distribution of personal information, please read our Privacy policy.

2. Our Policy

The Oxford Magazine takes intellectual property rights seriously and is committed to ensuring that all content published on our platform respects the legal rights of copyright and trademark holders. This includes text, images, videos, logos, branding elements, and other protected works.

All content that appears on The Oxford Magazine — whether produced by our editorial team or submitted by contributors and users — is considered either original or third-party content (“Third Party Content”). This policy outlines the process for notifying us of potential copyright or trademark infringement and for addressing those complaints promptly and fairly.

3. Removing and Reposting Third Party Content

3.1 How to Request Removal of Allegedly Infringing Content

If you believe, in good faith, that any content on The Oxford Magazine infringes your copyright or trademark, you (or your authorised representative) may submit a written takedown notice.

Your notice must include:

  • Your full name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  • Identification of the copyrighted work(s) or trademark(s) you believe are being infringed, including registration details if applicable;
  • A description of the allegedly infringing content and its URL or location on The Oxford Magazine;
  • A statement confirming your good faith belief that the content is unauthorised by the rights holder, their agent, or the law;
  • A statement affirming that the information you provide is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf; and
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Please send your takedown notice to:

or by email to hello@theoxfordmagazine.com

Please note: Submitting false or misleading claims of infringement may expose you to legal liability. If you are unsure whether your rights are being infringed, we recommend seeking legal advice before submitting a takedown notice.

3.2 How to Request Reposting of Content That Was Removed

If you believe your content was removed in error or due to misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice.

Your counter-notice must include:

  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  • Identification of the content that was removed and where it previously appeared;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the content was removed due to mistake or misidentification;
  • A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, and agreeing to accept service of legal process from the complainant; and
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Please send your counter-notice to:

Webmaster
The Oxford Magazine
Oxford Digital Collective Limited
19 Lynn Close
Oxford OX3 0JH
United Kingdom

or by email to hello@theoxfordmagazine.com

After we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If they do not notify us within 10 business days that they have taken legal action, we may restore the content to the site.

3.4 Repeat Infringer Policy

The Oxford Magazine enforces a strict policy for repeat infringers. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently disable accounts of users who repeatedly post content that violates copyright or trademark laws.

In addition, we may, at our discretion, reject or refuse to publish any submissions from individuals or organisations who have previously submitted infringing material, particularly where there is evidence of repeated or deliberate misuse of intellectual property.
