About Oxford Castle Quarter

Oxford Castle Quarter was once home to the Norman Oxford Castle, then the infamous Oxford Prison. Parts of the historic buildings (St George’s Tower and the Castle Mound) still remain and have helped shape the development of Oxford Castle Quarter as it stands today.

The secrets of the quarter’s history are unlocked in the exciting visitor attraction, Oxford Castle – Unlocked.

The rest of Oxford Castle Quarter is now home to an exciting variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs namely 1855 Wine Bar, Castle Yard Cafe, Pizza Express, Prezzo, The Slug and Lettuce, as well as The Swan and Castle.

Oxford Castle Quarter is also home to the O3 Gallery, which features a dynamic programme of exhibitions all year round, as well as the Malmaison Boutique Hotel.

Furthermore, Oxford Castle Quarter also hosts a number of regular outdoor events like summer Shakespeare & film screenings.
