About The Book House, Thame

The Book House has been Thame’s local independent bookshop since 1983. It may be small, but it has a wide and eclectic range of books, DVDs, gifts and cards – not to mention a loyalty stamp scheme and next day delivery.

The Book House are children’s’ book specialists and are particularly known for their excellence and skill in the field of children’s books. Half of the shop is dedicated to children’s literature. There’s a whole section given to board books, shelves of picture books, books for the younger and older reader.

They helped to create the Oxford Literary Festival and were involved for the first seven years. Now they are involved with the creation of a literary festival for Thame – the inaugural Thame Arts and Literature Festival launched in June 2010 but is now held mid-October each year.

In addition, they organise a number of events throughout the year, from book launches to author visits in the shop as well as in schools, and are happy to work with local book groups, schools and businesses.

Their staff choice stickers lead you to our recommendations of great reads, new and old.

Opening hours
