About The Levine Building

Opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in May 2022, the Levine Building marks a bold and beautiful new chapter for Trinity College Oxford. Designed by ADAM Architecture and named after alumnus and lead donor Peter Levine, the building combines architectural elegance with a strong sense of purpose—providing modern, sustainable facilities that complement the college’s historic Broad Street setting.

The development brings together residential, academic, and social spaces that enhance every aspect of college life. It houses 46 en suite study bedrooms, a state-of-the-art auditorium for lectures and performances, five dedicated teaching rooms, and a large, flexible function room for events and gatherings. An inviting café and informal study area fosters community and collaboration, while the library reception and administrative hub create a central space for academic support and connection. The project also includes the landscaping of the Library Quad, offering a serene outdoor environment for study and relaxation.

Designed with sustainability and longevity in mind, the Levine Building is built to a high environmental standard, ensuring energy efficiency and minimal long-term impact on the historic site.

Accessibility

Accessibility has been a central focus in the design and delivery of the Levine Building, ensuring that all members of the Trinity community—and visitors—can fully enjoy its facilities.

The building offers level access to all public areas and teaching rooms at ground floor level, supported by two passenger lifts providing step-free access to other floors. There are eight fully accessible en suite bedrooms, each designed to accommodate ceiling-mounted hoists, and two accessible student kitchens with adaptable work surfaces.

Further features include new disabled toilets and a Changing Places facility, alongside hearing loops in the Auditorium, Function Room, and Teaching Rooms to improve inclusivity during events and lectures.

A new Jack Britton Library Foyer offers level access to the library reception area from both the Library Quad and the Central Foyer of the Levine Building. A platform lift within the library ensures wheelchair users can reach both the lower and upper library entrances.

In a separate project, the college continues to enhance accessibility across its historic estate, with plans to introduce lifts and additional access improvements to spaces such as the Senior Common Room (SCR) and Beer Cellar.
