About Wantage Primary Academy
Wantage Primary Academy is a brand new publicly funded independent school on the Kingsgrove development in Wantage. The school opened its doors to its first students on 21 September 2020.
The school, which will ultimately accommodate 420 primary students and 26 nursery places and includes sports pitches, a playground, a multi-use games area and car parking, is one of the key community projects being delivered as part of the new 1,500-home development.
The school recognises the importance of securing knowledge, rehearsal and working hard to become confident and resilient thinkers and learners. Children are immersed in a learning environment that will help equip them to be successful in a rapidly changing world.
The curriculum is broad, with a commitment to building firm foundations and encouraging academic mastery. The school works on the premise that great teaching, based on formative assessment, particularly great questioning, AfL and retrieval practice, is key. The curriculum delivers the National Curriculum 2014 and beyond.
The school admits children between two and four years old into its nursery, with the admission number at 26 full-time equivalent places. 3- and 4-year-olds are admitted in the Autumn term in the first instance, with offers of places for the Spring and Summer terms only made if places are available throughout the year. 2-year-old places are available for children starting in the Autumn term only, and rising threes (children turning 3 before 31 December) will be prioritised. Please apply for a Reception place directly through Oxfordshire County Council.
Where space is available, the school will accept in-year transfers for places in the various year groups. Contact the school office for further in-year entry information and visit the Oxfordshire County Council website to apply to change schools during the academic year.
