Marks & Spencer has confirmed the opening date for its new food hall in Abingdon, with the store set to welcome customers on Wednesday 22 April at Fairacres Retail Park.

The launch of the 18,000 sq ft fresh market-style store will bring more than 75 new jobs to the local area, spanning roles in customer service, operations and specialist food preparation, including bakery and hot food counter positions.

The new store will offer the full M&S Food range, from everyday essentials to premium products and the retailer’s latest launches. Customers can also expect a number of in-store features designed to enhance convenience and choice.

These include a bakery and coffee counter serving freshly baked breads, pastries and barista-made takeaway drinks, as well as a hot food counter offering barbecue and butter-basted British rotisserie chicken.

Fresh produce will be sourced from M&S Select Farm partners, with more than 60 of these suppliers based in Oxfordshire, reinforcing the retailer’s commitment to local sourcing.

Shoppers will also find the company’s “Remarksable Value” and “Bigger Pack Better Value” ranges available throughout the food hall, aimed at offering affordability for families.

In addition to its food offering, the store will include a dedicated Click & Collect point, allowing customers to conveniently pick up online orders for clothing, homeware and beauty products.

Paddy Sunderland, Store Manager at M&S Abingdon, said: “We cannot wait to open our brand-new store in the heart of Oxfordshire. The team and I are so excited to welcome customers through the doors and showcase the very best of M&S Food and the quality and trusted value we’re known for.

“With the full range of M&S Food products, we have everything for customers’ weekly shop but also something for everyone, whether grabbing lunch on the go or wanting to try our latest seasonal launches. Follow our store social page here for all the latest updates.”

The Abingdon site is one of 12 former Homebase locations across the UK being redeveloped by M&S into new food halls as part of its wider retail expansion strategy.

The store will open from 8.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday and from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Sundays.
