Future mobility estate Bicester Motion has unveiled ambitious plans to support growth, create jobs and further expand its world-leading automotive and aviation cluster through a major 10-year investment programme.

The 444-acre Oxfordshire estate has opened a new public consultation on proposals that would enable substantial investment across the site, including new technical workspaces, affordable apartments and expanded hotel facilities.

Established in 2013 on the former RAF Bicester site, Bicester Motion was created to bring together mobility manufacturers, engineers, innovators and specialist businesses focused on shaping the future of transportation.

More than £100 million has already been invested into transforming the estate into a globally recognised hub for innovation and engineering excellence. Today, the site is home to more than 50 companies, supporting over 500 jobs and training around 200 apprentices annually.

The estate currently contributes an estimated £500 million in gross value added to the economy each year.

Recent arrivals at the site include major automotive and aviation brands such as Audi Revolut F1 Team, Polestar, Motorsport UK, Skyports Infrastructure and synthetic fuel manufacturer Zero.

Meanwhile, TeamSport is preparing to launch a new indoor e-karting centre later this year, while electric motor technology company YASA is set to move into a new headquarters at The Ranges this summer, bringing 400 skilled employees to the estate.

Bicester Motion said the strong demand from businesses wanting to join the cluster has driven the need for an enhanced masterplan.

The proposed vision includes an additional one million sq ft of offices and technical workspace designed for pioneering companies developing future mobility technologies.

Alongside employment space, plans also include around 200 new one to three-bedroom apartments, including affordable homes, helping create a mixed live-work community on the estate. Expanded hotel plans would also introduce new lodges and a clubhouse for visitors and guests.

Environmental improvements also form part of the proposals, with the estate aiming to deliver a 10% biodiversity net gain through further investment in ecology, landscaping and sustainable design.

Bicester Motion said the development would support both construction jobs and long-term career opportunities within the mobility and engineering sectors.

The estate has also become a major destination for automotive enthusiasts through its annual programme of events, including its popular Scrambles gatherings, which attract around 150,000 visitors each year from across the UK and internationally.

Daniel Geoghegan, chief executive officer of Bicester Motion, said: “As custodians of the estate, we’re proud of the world-leading mobility cluster we have created by investing in Bicester and Oxfordshire, creating skilled jobs, remarkable opportunities and unique experiences.

“We remain driven to deliver a dynamic and inclusive environment, with thoughtful design, community wellbeing and long-term sustainability all coming together to shape a vibrant place for generations to enjoy.

“We now look ahead to the next 10 years and welcome people’s feedback as we look to further invest in and enhance this unique place.”

A four-week public consultation opened on Thursday 28 May and will run until Thursday 25 June 2026.

A public exhibition will take place at Bicester Motion on Friday 12 June from 2pm to 7pm.
