Construction of 51 affordable homes at the former Northfield Hostel site in Littlemore has reached a major milestone, with both apartment blocks now at their full height.
Oxford City Council, its housing company OX Place and contractor Equans marked the occasion with a topping out ceremony on 19 October, as the buildings reached the highest point of their construction.
The development will provide 27 council homes for social rent for people on the city’s housing register, alongside 24 shared ownership properties. Built on brownfield land that had stood unused since 2014, the energy-efficient homes will incorporate solar panels.
With brickwork complete and roofing under way, the development is expected to be finished in spring 2027. It forms part of the council’s wider programme to deliver 1,600 affordable homes across Oxford between 2025 and 2029.
