Albino Flamingo Gin Chocolate Bonbons by Aurosó Chocolate

If you’re in search of a bar of grown-up chocolate, then look no further as it doesn’t get any more exciting than the New Albino Flamingo Gin chocolate bonbons from Aurosó chocolate.

Think individual chocolate bonbons filled with a ganache of Albino Flamingo Gin, stone-milled cashews, creamy coconut butter and pink peppercorns. Enrobed in smooth 90% Madagascan chocolate.

Each chocolate uses Honeys of Henley’s Spring honey, collected just down the road from Aurosó HQ. The honey is processed in small batches using traditional methods. The bees feast on wild plum and cherry blossom yielding a richly floral honey that complements our fruity fillings.

The Albino Flamingo gin is an award-winning Oxfordshire gin created by The Keep Spirits Company (The Keep) in Wallingford. This gin is un-pink in colour, but its notes of pink grapefruit, pink lady apples and pink peppercorns give a citrusy, peppery finish that pair superbly with the honey and Madagascan Chocolate.

Aurosó launched amid the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of making chocolate that was different and better than its competitors. The name, Aurosó, is an amalgam of Welsh (aur, gold), Malagasy (roso, flavour) and Gaelic (, luxury). The first and last of these reflect the founder, Catrin Burr’s, heritage, the middle one represents the chocolate: from Madagascar.

Through her journey to a healthier low sugar lifestyle, Catrin felt frustrated at the lack of options for filled chocolate treats that were reduced sugar and preservative-free. Driven, she set out to make her dream chocolate bar; one that was delicious and pure, and with the sustainability credentials to match.

Handmade in Moulsford in Oxfordshire, with each bar and bonbon, a rich ganache filling is covered in smooth 90% RaiseTrade Madagascan chocolate. RaiseTrade is one of the most ethical-sound schemes that means that over 35% of the value-add remains in Madagascar, more information can be found at raisetrade.com.

The emphasis is on pure, sustainable ingredients, but using low sugar. The chocolate bars and bonbons are free of preservatives, artificial colourings or soy lecithin. According to Catrin, “It was also incredibly important to us that all our packaging does not contain any plastic and is 100% recyclable which we have achieved.”

The Albino Flamingo Gin chocolate bonbons are available in boxes of 6 (70g) and 12 (140g) from the Aurosó chocolate website at aurosochocolate.com where you’ll also find a range of luxurious flavours to challenge and excite your palate.
