About The Alchemist: Magnificats of Orlandus Lassus

Magnificat returns to Oxford to celebrate the genius and creativity of Orlandus Lassus, whose Magnificats paid tribute to other Renaissance masters by reimagining their music. Rich, dark-hued compositions by Josquin, Morales and Verdelot contrast with exuberant polychoral works, culminating in Lassus’ brilliant 10-voice setting, Aurora lucis rutilat.
