About the Witney Christmas Lights Switch-on Event 2021
The Witney Christmas lights switch-on event is a family event with live music, stalls, Santa’s Grotto, food and funfair. Lights go on at 6.00pm.
Jointly organised by the Witney Rotary Club, Witney Lions and Witney Round Table and supported by the Witney Town Council, the event attracts thousands of people to the Market Square.
Last year’s event, scheduled for Friday 27 November, was cancelled, as it would have been impossible to maintain safe social distancing and comply with coronavirus control measures in crowds of that volume.
In a year that is lacking so much cheer, the Town Council suggested that families hold their own mini switch-on of Christmas lights at 6.00pm on the town’s traditional switch-on night so that the town is still illuminated for the festive season.
