KNEAD Bakery is set to open a new site in Oxford this June, taking over a coveted position on the high street; it will inhabit the former site of women’s clothing brand, Hobbs.
Adding to their existing Gloucestershire sites in Tetbury, Cirencester and Elkstone, this will mark the fourth opening for the growing bakery brand and a first site in Oxfordshire.
KNEAD is open every day starting at 8.00am. Guests can enjoy a variety of delicious items, including pastries, cakes, and savory options, to eat at KNEAD or take away.
Some of their award-winning specialties include their signature Sausage Rolls, the Great Taste award-winning Pecan & Maple Danish and Almond Croissants, and the Taste of the West award-winning Sea Salt & Rosemary Focaccia and Lemon Meringue Pie.
In addition to their food, KNEAD also offers excellent coffee. Visitors can choose their preferred coffee and will be served a high-quality brew from Extract Coffee Roasters in Bristol.
Adding a further string to their bow, the award-winning bakery has perfected the recipe for Brownies, Blondies, and Flapjacks, which can be picked up in store for a sweet treat, or have them delivered directly to your home via KNEAD’s postal service KNEAD by post.
KNEAD has been founded by ‘The Baker Boys’ John Hawes and Kris Biggs over their shared passion for pastry and baking and applying the key principles of tradition, quality and seasonality.
Having worked together at a 5 star, 2 Michelin starred hotel, the duo wanted to bring their knowledge and expertise to the high street. All breads, pastries, cakes, are made by hand, with care, and according to the season.
Since opening in 2020, KNEAD has diversified its offering to include KNEAD on wheels – a mobile bakery bringing freshly made baguettes, salads and sweet treats to workplaces and local villages across Gloucestershire.
Their Elkstone site is also home to seasonal supper clubs from Italian Night to Tapas and BBQ. This is an opportunity for KNEAD to bring together their team of talented chefs and bakers to showcase their culinary skills, which the community can enjoy.
KNEAD has already gained inclusion in La Liste’s World’s Best Pastry Shop Selection and The Times Top 49 Bakeries in the UK, recognised for their high-end and award-winning handmade pastries. This month KNEAD picked up a further award for best café & coffee shop in Gloucestershire at the SOGlos awards 2025.
Now with their sights set on expansion it won’t be long before more high streets in the South West (and beyond) will be in need of KNEAD.
