Bicester Motion has taken another step towards shaping its long-term future, welcoming local residents, businesses and stakeholders to a public exhibition showcasing its proposed 10-year investment plan for the historic estate.

Held on Friday 12 June, the exhibition attracted around 80 attendees, offering an opportunity for visitors to explore the vision for the former RAF site and discuss plans directly with members of the project team.

The proposed masterplan sets out an ambitious strategy designed to support future growth while building on Bicester Motion’s reputation as a centre for mobility innovation.

The plans include the creation of new jobs, additional workspace for pioneering businesses, new residential apartments, a hotel, biodiversity improvements and significant economic benefits for the wider region.

According to the proposals, the development could contribute around £1 billion annually to the economy, further strengthening Bicester’s position as a nationally significant hub for technology, engineering and sustainable mobility.

Visitors attending the exhibition were able to review detailed consultation materials, ask questions and provide feedback on how the estate could evolve over the coming decade.

Daniel Geoghegan, Chief Executive Officer of Bicester Motion, said the organisation was encouraged by the level of engagement from the local community.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our public exhibition and share their thoughts on the proposals. We were pleased to welcome so many people and have constructive conversations about the future of Bicester Motion.

“As custodians of this unique estate, we are committed to listening to our neighbours, local businesses and wider stakeholders. Their feedback is an important part of helping us shape plans that support long-term investment, jobs and opportunities, while respecting the estate’s heritage and its role within the local community.”

The consultation forms part of an ongoing engagement process that aims to balance economic growth with environmental enhancement and heritage conservation. Bicester Motion has increasingly positioned itself as a destination for next-generation mobility businesses while preserving the character and historic significance of the former airfield.

The proposals suggest a future where innovation-led enterprise sits alongside new amenities and improved natural habitats, creating a more diverse and sustainable estate capable of supporting both commercial growth and community needs.

Residents and stakeholders who have not yet viewed the plans still have an opportunity to participate. The public consultation remains open until 11pm on Thursday 25 June 2026, with consultation materials and a feedback form available online.

Following the consultation period, all responses will be reviewed by the project team before a consultation feedback report is published. The report will summarise the views received and explain how community feedback has influenced the evolution of the proposals.

The masterplan has been developed with support from a multidisciplinary team including Ridge, Edgars, Nicholsons, Stantec, Motion, Aurochs Ecology, Worlledge Associates and LDA Design.

As discussions continue, the consultation marks an important moment in determining how one of Oxfordshire’s most distinctive innovation estates could evolve over the next decade, balancing investment, employment opportunities and environmental stewardship with its historic legacy.
