Callout to MINI owners to take part in MILE OF MINIS charity challenge

Organisers of The Italian Job Charity Events have unveiled plans for the return of their hugely popular MILE OF MINIS (MOM) challenge – starting at MINI Plant Oxford and ending at Silverstone’s Interactive Museum.

They are now putting out a callout to MINI owners to participate in the event and help raise funds for children living in poverty. Set in Oxfordshire countryside, the event is a fun driving day out for old and new Mini car owners and their families.

The aim of the MOM is to fundraise for Buttle UK – a charity dedicated to helping children and young people in the UK who have experienced a crisis, are living in financial hardship and are dealing with multiple challenging social issues.

Buttle UK helps by providing much-needed financial assistance to pay for things like children’s beds and household appliances. They also fund items to support children’s education, like school uniforms, computers and books.

Organisers hope to build on their efforts of 2021 and secure the 320 MINIS in 2023, which is the number they estimate they need to make up a MILE OF MINIS.

The starting line for the MOM 23 will be the MINI Plant Oxford, where teams meet at 8.30am. After photos and the official welcome, the convoy of MINIS of all shapes and sizes will be officially flagged off at 10.00am for the start of the driving adventure.

Using the event’s navigational road book, teams will follow a route across miles of beautiful countryside, through villages, and rolling hills with plenty of places for pit stops and Kodak moments, before making their way to the finish line at the Silverstone Interactive Museum.

An exciting driving day which, the Organisers feel, should attract hundreds of MINIs and set a new mile record.

The Silverstone Interactive Museum is a unique experience full of hands-on displays, unique original cars, racing memorabilia and access to the real stories behind some of the most iconic moments in motorsport history.

The museum is offering a reduced entry price to MILE OF MINIS participants for those interested in looking around.

The day’s climax will see all participating MINIs gathered and parked in the car park within the iconic Silverstone complex to hopefully complete the record-breaking mile attempt. At the same time, it will provide an incredible photo opportunity and, without question, a chance to make lots of noise.

Organisers ask each team to raise as much money as possible for Buttle UK and hope each car will secure at least £30.00. Due to the legacy left by its founder, the charity covers its own administration costs, which means 100% of any money raised will go directly to helping children in need of support.

The cost of entering a team (car plus 2 people) is £35.00. This includes breakfast, the Italian Job navigational roadbook, an event sticker, an Italian Job baseball hat and a fundraising pack. Additional persons in the car will be charged £14.00.

Guilia St George, Co-founder and Organiser of The Italian Job Events, said, “we really hope MINI owners will come out and support the event next year. More so than ever before, families across the country are really struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. We hope the event will give some of these families the much-needed help to give their children a better chance in life”.

Reservation is now OPEN. Email gsg@italianjob.com to secure a place.

The Italian Job event is a European 10-day driving adventure in Italy in October 2023. Full details can be found at www.italianjob.com.
