A collaboration among several local businesses in Chalgrove has culminated in the acquisition of an additional defibrillator for the village.
This critical lifesaving device will be officially launched at 11.00am on Friday, 12 April, at the Brook Doctors Surgery in Chalgrove, where it will be prominently located for easy access by residents and visitors alike.
The initiative, spearheaded by a group of dedicated businesses, is a testament to the community’s commitment to promoting health and safety within Chalgrove.
Among the key contributors to this endeavour are OX Gins (the local Chalgrove Gin distillery), Kate and Fitz (the landlords at the beloved Lamb pub), and Bippin (the well-respected previous owner of the nearby Londis convenience store).
Additionally, the housing association company Places for People, currently building new houses in the area, has generously supported this vital cause. A special thanks to Andy Long – the area’s first responder -who kindly gave his expert advice in helping with this project.
One standout individual deserving of special recognition is Will Lakin from L&R Electrical Installation Ltd based in Stadhampton, who graciously volunteered his time and expertise to install the new defibrillator at no charge. His selfless contribution underscores the spirit of unity and generosity that pervades the Chalgrove community.
The significance of having a defibrillator readily available cannot be overstated, particularly in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. Quick access to a defibrillator significantly increases the chances of survival, as every minute without intervention decreases the likelihood of recovery.
With over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring annually in the UK, the presence of this defibrillator could potentially save countless lives in Chalgrove and its surrounding areas.
“We are immensely proud of the collaborative effort that has brought this project to fruition,” said Bob Clark, Director of the Chalgrove Artisan Distillery, representing the participating businesses.
“This initiative exemplifies the power of community solidarity and underscores our collective commitment to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our fellow residents. By working together, we have demonstrated that we can achieve extraordinary outcomes for the betterment of our community.”
Residents and members of the community are invited to join the official launch event on Friday, 12 April, at 11.00am at the Chalgrove Doctors Surgery. This would be an opportunity to celebrate this remarkable achievement and reaffirm our dedication to building a healthier and safer Chalgrove for all.
