New Theatre Oxford to reopen in August with Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical
New Theatre Oxford will reopen on 23 August with Priscilla Queen of the Desert, followed by multi-award-winning musical Blood Brothers and a series of fantastic one-nighters

We are so excited that after 16 long months, the New Theatre Oxford will finally reopen its doors to the public from Monday 23 August.

And to celebrate its reopening, it has lined up a selection of some of the top acts and shows in the world, including Chris Ramsey, Bat Out of Hell, Paul Weller, Jersey Boys.

The theatre will open with Priscilla Queen of the Desert from 23 to 28 August. The first show on stage at the George Street venue since it closed in March 2020 is based on the Oscar-winning movie Priscilla – a hilarious and heartwarming adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for the Outback to put on the show of a lifetime.

After Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the multi-award-winning musical Blood Brothers from 31 August to 04 September, which tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

The remainder of September will feature a series of fantastic one-nighters, including Alan Carr (11 September), Paloma Faith (16 September), Mo Gilligan (18 September), Fisherman’s Friends (25 September), John Bishop (27 September) and Jamie Cullum (29 September).

Looking further ahead to Christmas, School of Rock comes to Oxford from 13 December to 01 January 2022. Based on the iconic movie starring Jack Black, the show features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie and a band of insanely talented kids that play live every show.

Don’t miss out! School of Rock will warm your heart and your family’s and blow you away in equal measure.

Next year, expect to see the stars of Strictly Come Dancing and the queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, plus much more on the stage at the New Theatre Oxford.

We are thrilled that there does seem to be light at the end of the very long tunnel at last.
