Groups of friends and families travelling across Oxfordshire by bus this summer can unlock cheaper travel, thanks to the return of a special discount on an existing group ticket from Oxford Bus Company.
The bus operator’s Bus Together initiative offers a significant discount on its existing CityZone and CountyZone group day ticket, enabling up to five people to travel all day for just £15 when purchased via the mobile app.
It represents a £6 saving on the ticket’s standard price, with the offer running until Sunday, 31 August, to coincide with the school holidays.
The offer has been launched to reduce travel costs for groups planning a trip in Oxfordshire, while encouraging people to minimise their carbon footprint and opt for sustainable modes of transport.
Reduced group day tickets are also eligible on Oxford Bus Company’s picturesque X40 route, which connects the city centre to Reading via Nuneham Courtney, Dorchester, Benson, Wallingford and Woodcote, and will operate at an enhanced frequency through the summer.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, hopes the offer will encourage groups of people to get out and explore the best of Oxfordshire this summer. “We’re so fortunate to live in a county that offers limitless discoveries of rolling hills and countryside, plus the history and heritage of Oxford city centre,” he said.
“We want everyone to experience the best Oxfordshire has to offer while the weather is onside and children are enjoying the summer holidays.
“It’s why we’ve decided to cut the price of our group day ticket for all CityZone and CountyZone routes which operate as far south as Reading, to Chinnor and High Wycombe in the east and Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds, plus Abingdon, Wantage, Witney, Swindon and nearby villages.
“Bus travel is not only cost-effective for families and larger groups but also reduces our impact on the environment by cutting down on unnecessary journeys. We hope this offer incentivises more people to get out and explore the county this summer.”
Passengers can cut the cost on their group ticket by entering the code SUMMERHOLS15 when purchasing tickets via the Oxford Bus app. The offer is limited to one discounted ticket per user.
