25 people across Oxfordshire have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021.

The 2021 birthday honours list has recognised the work of individuals involved in vaccine design and delivery, along with those who have worked throughout the crisis. In a year that has truly tested the resolve and determination of the country, almost 23% of recipients were recommended for COVID-19 service.

A damehood also goes to Professor Sarah Gilbert, Saïd Professor of Vaccinology at the Jenner Institute, for her pivotal role in developing a COVID-19 vaccine.

Knighthoods are given to Professor Andrew Pollard, Professor of Paediatric Infection, University of Oxford, for services to Public Health, particularly during COVID-19, Professor Peter Horby for services to Medical Research, and Professor Martin Landray For services to Public Health and Science.

Many others across Oxfordshire were also recognised for their work throughout the pandemic. These include Ruth Todd of Banbury for her work in vaccine delivery and Joanna Dyson, also of Banbury, for services to charitable Food Provision during COVID-19.
