About Cholsey Railway Station
Cholsey Railway Station is a railway station that serves the village of Cholsey in South Oxfordshire and the nearby town of Wallingford.
The original station opened with the line and known as Wallingford Road Station is on the original line of the Great Western Railway, which opened on 01 June 1840.
On 02 July 1866, Wallingford Road Station was renamed Moulsford, and the branch to Wallingford was opened. The station closed in 1892, and a new one was opened closer to where the main line towards Goring & Streatley and the branch to Wallingford diverged.
The station is managed by Great Western Railway, which operates local services to Didcot Parkway, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington Train Stations.
The station has five platforms. Two are generally reserved for fast trains, but are opened when the lines through the other two mainline platforms are closed for maintenance. Platform 5 is only used for services on the preserved Cholsey and Wallingford Railway.
