About New College Chapel Oxford
The Chapel of New College Oxford or New College Chapel is a place of sanctuary, of beautiful words and music, of peace and contemplation – and is open to everyone.
The Chapel has been a fundamental part of New College life since the College’s foundation in 1379 and in today’s College, it is the home of the internationally renowned New College Choir.
The Chapel is the focus of religious worship in College in which all members of our community and many Oxford and international visitors come to experience the beauty of our daily choral services. For all people of faith or none, it hopes to provide a place of quiet and contemplation away from the stresses of daily life.
Music has always been a highly valued part of the College community and the Chapel is used by students and external groups for concerts, plays and lectures and we welcome this diverse cultural contribution to our College life.
While firstly a College Chapel for fellows, students and staff, we welcome all our visitors here who are drawn to its history, its music and its witness of faith.

The Choir
The Choir of New College Oxford, composed of men and boy trebles, is one of the leading choral ensembles in the world, celebrated for its distinctive and stylish performance of music from five centuries.
You can hear the choir in choral services live in New College Chapel, Oxford, and via webcasts, on concert tours and on its 100+ recordings. The choir is directed by Robert Quinney.

Choral services
Choral services take place each day (except Wednesday) in university terms, and all are welcome. There is no need to be a member of the college or even of the university. There is no dress code, no entry requirement, and no need to be part of any religious tradition.
The services offer a blend of ancient and modern in speech and music. The traditional Anglican service of Evensong is at the heart of the chapel’s life but the choir also sings for major feast days in the church’s year, carol services and special college events, such as the installation of a new Warden.
