The popular Abingdon Air and Country Show, which was to be held on 18 May 2024, has been postponed.
The show, held on the site of RAF Abingdon, in the heart of Oxfordshire, regularly features aerobatic displays from warbirds and biplanes to modern-day jets.
There’s also plenty to see on the ground, too, from static aircraft displays and cockpits to sit inside to a great mix of stalls, classic vehicle displays, and country fayre traditions and craftsmanship.
The organisers have released a statement saying, “Due to exceptional circumstances well beyond our control, sadly, our 2024 event being held on Saturday, 18 May, is postponed.
“The reason being there is ongoing Ministry of Defence ‘correspondence’ that cannot be resolved in the timescale to the Air & Country Show, which was due to take place in just over a week.
“However, positive steps from the Ministry of Defence are being taken to resolve it in good time to allow us to re-stage an event much later in the year.
“We are sorry for the news, but the committee and core volunteers are looking forward to seeing you soon, with the new date to be announced once known.
“Thank you for your support.”
All participants have been informed, and ticket holders are asked to look out for further correspondence from the ticket provider. And the organisers are assuring everyone that they will be refunded.
It is expected the process might take a little while as the organisers are looking to refund everyone in one go rather than in ‘dribs and drabs’, which can be time-consuming.
