In a reversal of its usual offering SHARE Oxford today announced a series of workshops that will show people how to fix common problems with household items and teach them new skills.
This will be in addition to SHARE Oxford’s regular Repair Cafés, where experts fix household items visitors take along. The workshops will take place during Great Big Green Week (07 to 14 June) and are open to everyone.
Ben Tuppen at SHARE Oxford said: “We can’t wait for people from our local communities to join in with activities that’ll help them save money, extend the life of the things we use, and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. At SHARE Oxford, we love Great Big Green Week.

“It’s a moment to share, even more widely, the work that we do, at the same time as highlighting the initiatives of other organisations in our field.
This is a week during which we want to have some fun. But it’s also a week during which we can show people the little things they can easily do to help reduce the stress of climate change on our planet.”
From the basics of bike repair and how to move on from Windows 10 to basket weaving and an introduction to traditional woodwork, we have a workshop for everyone.
In addition, SHARE Oxford will top and tail the week with stands at other Great Big Green Week events. These include THRIVE Oxford’s event to highlight local community sustainability initiatives and Oxford City Farm’s family-focused gathering to mark the end of the week.
