A recent buyer sentiment survey by Knight Frank has revealed a shift in housing preferences, with energy efficiency becoming a more crucial factor for homebuyers, with 60% citing it as their primary reason for choosing a new build. This trend is driven by the desire to reduce winter heating costs and mitigate the effects of increasingly frequent summer heatwaves.

For house hunters keen to purchase a new build home in Oxfordshire, developer Berkeley Homes is building a new collection of energy-efficient homes at Winterbrook Meadows, in the charming, historic town of Wallingford

The homes benefit from enhanced insulation, double glazing, high-quality energy-saving appliances, LED lighting, plus the added bonus of solar photovoltaic (PV) roof tiles and a waste-water heat recovery system, which all contribute to generating lower running costs.

The Summerleigh Collection is the latest release at Winterbrook Meadows, marking the first opportunity to own an apartment in this stylish and sought-after community. Buyers can choose from a diverse range of thoughtfully designed homes, including 1 and 2-bedroom apartments, 2-bedroom coach houses, and 3 and 4-bedroom houses. The collection features a mix of popular layouts from the first phase alongside a selection of brand-new designs.

Located between Winterbrook Lane and Harvest Lane, the homes in The Summerleigh Collection are surrounded by leafy green corridors, open spaces, and play areas—and all will benefit from Berkeley’s signature quality, exceptional finish, and high specification.

Contemporary styled kitchens with handless doors, feature a selection of Bosch appliances, enhanced by laminate or stone worktops and tiled splashbacks. Whilst elegant, contemporary bathrooms come with wall tiling to key areas, further detailing includes a recessed double fronted mirrored cabinet, a tiled niche in the shower area, a vanity sink unit, plus a chrome heated towel rail.

Downstairs, the houses boast underfloor heating, with a combination of wood-effect flooring to the main living areas and carpet included in the bedrooms. Fitted wardrobes to the master bedroom complete the high-quality finishes.

Winterbrook Meadows is conveniently located within walking distance of Wallingford’s historic town centre, with its enviable selection of independent shops, boutiques and superb eateries, along with excellent schools from nursery through to secondary education – all good or outstanding Ofsted rated.

The town is also well served by road and rail links – both Cholsey Station and Didcot Parkway are a short drive away, with the fastest journey times to: Reading – 12 minutes, Maidenhead – 33 minutes and London Paddington – 38 minutes. The new homes are available from £275,000.
