One of Oxford’s most cherished restaurants is making its return. Oli’s Thai will reopen this September at its original home on Magdalen Road in East Oxford after a three-year hiatus that saw the space transformed into Elle’s Deli.
Owners Rufus and Ladd Thurston made the announcement this week, confirming that Elle’s Deli will close at the end of July to pave the way for the return of their much-loved Thai restaurant.
The relaunch will feature a refreshed menu, including exciting new dishes alongside the classic flavours that helped build Oli’s cult following.

The couple’s decision to revive Oli’s Thai comes as part of a broader wave of culinary creativity. Rufus, who is also the driving force behind Arbequina – the perennially popular tapas restaurant on Cowley Road – is currently working on opening a brand-new Arbequina site in Oxford’s historic Covered Market.

The project, set in one of the city’s most iconic spaces, is a bold and exciting new chapter that the Thurstons hope the community will embrace and be part of.
Further details about Oli’s Thai’s reopening, including booking information and opening hours, are expected to be announced soon.
