Two young skaters from Oxford Ice Rink have taken top honours at the British National Figure Skating Championships in Sheffield, with 14 year old Ellie Coley and 15 year old William Sandelands winning Gold in the Basic Novice category.
Training under coach Richard Beamish, the pair impressed judges with a performance that reflected their hard work and dedication.

Local audiences will soon be able to see the newly crowned National Champions in action when Oxford Ice Rink hosts its Movie Magic on Ice show on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December.
Jane De Lange, Ice Skating Co-ordinator for More Leisure Community Trust, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled for Ellie and William. To see them achieve national success is incredibly rewarding for all of us at the rink. We can’t wait for audiences to see their championship-winning performance in our Movie Magic on Ice show.”

Ellie and William will skate a special routine to music from The Hunger Games as part of the festive production, which will also showcase skaters of all ages and abilities.
Councillor Chewe Munkonge, Cabinet Member for a Healthy, Fairer Oxford, added:
“A huge congratulations to Ellie and William on their fantastic win at the British National Figure Skating Championships and for representing Oxford on a national stage. If you want to see their talents in person, be sure to get a ticket to the Movie Magic on Ice this weekend.”
The show offers two performances each day, at 1.00pm and 5.00pm. Tickets cost £15 for adults (16+), £10 for juniors (15 and under), or £45 for a family ticket. Booking is available through the Oxford City Leisure website.
