Castle Quay is set to welcome a major new family attraction in summer 2026, with the opening of FunParx, an indoor multi-activity adventure park, in the former Debenhams unit in Banbury.

Spanning 50,000 sq ft, FunParx will feature giant inflatables, ball pits, ninja-style assault courses, obstacle challenges, slides, arcade games, inflatable sports pitches, carnival-style games and dedicated soft play zones for younger children.

A bar games area with pool, air hockey and classic games will ensure there is something for teenagers, families and groups of friends. The park will welcome up to 250 visitors per hour and is expected to create 50 new jobs in Banbury.

Co-founder Matt Tofts, a Banbury local, said: “We are so excited to be opening in Banbury. This site is going to be fantastic for everyone, and we cannot wait to welcome people in to experience all the fun.”

The announcement follows Castle Quay’s £65 million regeneration, transforming the centre from a traditional retail space into a vibrant canalside destination combining shopping, dining, entertainment and culture.

The Waterfront and Lock29 have revitalised the town’s social scene, with independent food traders, restaurants and outdoor terraces alongside the Oxford Canal, while The Light Banbury offers cinema, bowling, climbing, gaming and rooftop dining.

National brands including Boots, Waterstones, Superdrug, The Entertainer, F Hinds, TG Jones and Clarks have recently renewed leases, highlighting confidence in Castle Quay’s growth.

Councillor Lesley McLean, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance, Property and Regeneration, said: “Castle Quay’s new FunParx is set to draw visitors to Banbury from far and wide. Another family-friendly attraction will be a great complement to The Light and Lock29, making Banbury a brilliant place to visit for a day out.”

Oliver Wren, Centre Director at Castle Quay, added: “Our vision is for Castle Quay to be a place where people come to spend time, not just shop, and FunParx will add another brilliant reason for families and young people to visit and enjoy the town centre.”

With excellent transport links, parking, EV charging and family-friendly facilities, Castle Quay is cementing its position as a full-day destination for Banbury residents and visitors alike.
